設立禁漁期或保護區，則能確保漁業資源的永續利用。因此，魚卵、仔稚魚種類的正確鑑定對推估魚種的生殖期及產卵場及適當的漁業資源管理即相當重要。譬如，日本鰻之產卵場即是利用魚卵及狹首幼生之DNA序列作判定。\n\n \n\n    <br><br>但過往魚卵和仔魚只是屬於浮游動物大類組成中的一個類別，最多只有個體數、豐度或密度的資料，沒有分到更低的分類階層。也因此近年來在環境影響評估的調查項目中，已經把魚卵和仔魚從過去是屬於浮游動物中的一項類群，獨立出來成為一項單獨的工作項目，和成魚的調查並列。<br><br>然而，魚類早期生活史的魚卵和仔魚因為外部的形態特徵甚少，因此通常沒有辦法鑒定到種\n(species)、屬\n(genus) 甚至於科\n(family) 的層級。特別是仔魚從胚胎發育的前期、中期、後期到變態為稚魚中間的形態，幾乎每天都在改變，很難找出較固定的形態特徵並寫出檢索表。根據<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" "邵廣昭於1990-1995年這段時間對台灣各地魚類群聚結構 (魚種組成)，有了詳細完整的調查資料，再利用數值分類方法分析，得知原來台灣的魚種組成有南北分成兩地理區的現象。這條線是由東北角從右上左下斜切到澎湖的南方四島，主要是由於海流所造成。\n而後一些其他生物類群如珊瑚、甲殼類、海藻等不同的類群也都做出同樣的結果，因此這條台灣南北海洋生物分佈的分界線，有人稱之為「邵氏線」。此一研究結果也在1997年受新加坡大學邀請出席國際南海海洋生物多樣性研討會，邵廣昭建議南海地理範圍的北界應在北回歸線，南界在赤道。此項根據邵廣昭在台灣魚類地理分布的研究結果的建議也被大會所接受，並在2000年出版的專刊上正式被採用。",
